KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan deplored the official protocol given to the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his arrival from London early Thursday morning, all the way from Islamabad Airport to Punjab House.
“Absolutely shameful how a discredited PM, facing a host of financial corruption charges, is given official protocol at tax payer expense,” Khan tweeted on his official twitter account.

Taking aim at incumbent PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the PTI chief accused him of lending a hand with saving Sharif’s ill-gotten money, which he claimed, stashed abroad.
He questioned PM Abbasi on granting permission for such a protocol as he said how the premier could grant a permission for an official protocol to a man charged in the multiple corruption cases on tax payers’ expense.

In a subsequent tweet, Khan added that it was shocking the way ruling party provided an official protocol to Sharif, as what he said, to glamorise criminal financial corruption by the Sharifs.

Earlier today, Sharif arrived at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) from London ahead of an accountability court’s hearing into graft references on Nov 3 (tomorrow).
He had then left for Punjab House from the airport premises in an extensive protocol of 56 vehicles.
It merits mentioning here that Nawaz Sharif was disqualified as prime minister by the Supreme Court in its landmark July 28 judgment in the Panama Papers case.
