The statement came in the wake of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif’s decision of sacking 12 military officers on corruption charges yesterday.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Q have also demanded accountability in every institution and submitted resolution in the Punjab Assambly to pay tribute to Pakistan army chief for accountability in the military institution.
The army chief’s decision has been lauded in all the walks of life.
Those sacked for corruption included one Lt. General, one M0ajor General, five brigadiers and three lieutenant colonels.
The COAS had on Wednesday quite vocally said that across-the-board accountability was essential for prosperity of Pakistan.
Senior political analyst Dr Shahid Masood said 12 top officers of Pakistan Army had been dismissed and all their perks, privileges, benefits and medals had been taken back.
“On going war against terrorism and extremism being fought with the backing of entire nation cannot bring enduring peace and stability unless the menace of corruption is uprooted, remarked the army chief during his visit to the Signal Regimental Centre Kohat on Wednesday.
“Pakistan’s Armed Forces will fully support every meaningful effort in that direction which would ensure a better future for our next generations.”
He had said steps would be taken to eliminate corruption as well as terrorism for progress of Pakistan. These initiatives will reflect in development of the country.
