Ali Azmat bats for Zaid Hamid on social media

Pakistani singer Ali Azmat did not shy away from defending Zaid Hamid on Twitter and also took to task the ‘Zionist regime’ for imprisoning him.

Ali Azmat has been known to be close friends with Zaid Hamid. The duo of Ali Azmat and Zaid Hamid also hosted a show together a couple of years ago, on a private TV channel titled Iqbal Ka Pakistan. Whilst Ali posed the questions, Zaid Hamid provided his interpretation of Allama Iqbal’s philosophies and how they were relevant, considering Pakistan’s current situation.

Zaid Hamid had been arrested in Saudi Arabia for reportedly criticizing the Kingdom for its aggressive stance in Yemen. A Saudi court also sentenced the defense analyst to 1,000 lashes and 8 years of imprisonment. Pakistan’s Foreign Office is trying these days to obtain consular access to Hamid. Zaid had been in Saudi Arabia for the Umra pilgrimage.
