Arms race in South Asia will affect regional peace, says Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has said that arms race in South Asia will affect regional peace, ARY News reported on Thursday.

In a media briefing, Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said that the foreign office went through the media reports of India deploying its Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at the Line of Control (LoC) for surveillance.

Zakaria said, “Even though defence cooperation between India and United States is their bilateral affair, an arms race in the region will affect the regional peace.”

He further said that Pakistan will be concerned if the defence agreements between India and United States will affect the country.

“We have already expressed our concerns,” the FO spokesman said.

The foreign office spokesman on a query stated that terrorists have set up their safe havens in Afghanistan.

“These terrorists have accepted responsibility of carrying out terrorist attacks in Pakistan,” Zakaria added.
