RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Qammar Javed Bajwa on Monday planted a tree to kick off the ‘Sarsabaz-o-Shadab Pakistan’ tree plantation campaign.
According to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief along with his wife participated in an event held to launch the campaign by the Pakistan Army ahead of Independence Day.
The army chief in his message on the occasion said that trees are life, and we should plant trees to save lives. He invited others to be part of the tree plantation campaign.
He said they will work together with environmental organisations, Forest Department and the Ministry of Agriculture. A large numbers of army officers along with their families and other school children also participated in the event.
Pakistan Army has joined that national tree plantation campaign and planted two million trees across the country. The planned target is to plant ten million trees during the monsoon season.
