CAA to tax airlines based on passenger and cargo load of each flight

KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has undertaken a decision to tax all airlines according to the overall load each flight carries, reported ARY News.

All airlines of the country, including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be taxed based on the amount of passengers and cargo each of their flights carry.

A record of all the passengers from the time of arrival to departure has been sought by the regulatory authority.

An official notification issued by CAA directed all airports in the country to submit a list of every passenger traveling by air along with details of their times of arrival and departure on a daily basis to the aviation regulator.

‘All airlines are bound to submit passenger details of domestic and international flights, total number of passengers onboard flights and the total weight of the cargo they carry must be submitted every 24 hours,’ read the notification.

In case of non-compliance with the orders the airlines would have to face lawful consequences, each flight would be taxed according to the overall load it carries, the notification further reads.

All airlines in the country without exception have been asked to comply with the orders.
