Army Chief unveils ‘Khushhal Balochistan’ package in Quetta

QUETTA: Chief of Army Staff General (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa launched the ‘Khushhal Balochistan’ Project in Quetta on Thursday.

According to Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor, the army chief was in provincial capital city of Balochistan to unveil the project that aims to endure stability through social-economic development and security.

A high level meeting concerning the development project was held at headquarters of Southern Command Headquarter in the city, the state radio reported.

This was the second uplift package unveiled for the province within a month as Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had earlier announced a 10-year development scheme.

Shedding light on the scheme, he said the ten-year package for Balochistan included provision of natural gas, electricity, and water to the inhabitants.

Earlier in September, the army chief had said Pakistan Army would continue assisting in the security and development of Balochistan, besides timely completion of uplift projects in the province.

“The armed forces are fulfilling their responsibilities in far-flung areas, which is commendable. We will keep rendering our duties with vigour and zeal,” said General Qamar on the second day of Eid ul Azha which he spent in Turbat and Gwadar areas of Balochistan.
