Court issues arrest warrants of Sharjeel Memon

KARACHI: An accountability court on Saturday has reissued non-bailable arrest warrants of Sindh’s former information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, ARY News reported.

The accountability court issued the arrest warrants after hearing the corruption references worth five billion rupees against the former minister which was filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The Sindh High Court (SHC) had granted protective bail to the former minister till December 26, 2016 in the advertisement scam. The court had on Friday declined to give an extension to the bail for the fourth time to Memon.

In the previous hearing, the accountability court declared a Sindh government official Aneeta Baloch as proclaimed offender during the hearing of corruption references against Memon.

The court had issued non-bailable arrest warrant against former deputy secretary of the information department, Anita Baloch, in the corruption reference.

The investigation officers pleaded the court to declare co-accused Baloch a proclaimed offender. The court, after hearing the arguments of the investigation officer, declared Baloch a proclaimed offender.

The counsel for Memon, who is reportedly in Dubai, informed the court that his client is not in good health and was discharged from the hospital yesterday.

The court ordered the law-enforcement agencies to present Memon and adjourned the hearing of the reference till 14th January 2017.
