CPEC will be a game-changer in the region, says PM

The prime minister was addressing the newly elected members of Gilgit-Baltistan Council after administering them oath.

Nawaz Sharif said that some people are saying that Nawaz Sharif only building roads. Building a road is not a crime as roads bring prosperity for the people, he said. He said those who were opposing the motorway today preferring to travel on the motorway.

He also said that during his tenure the government has restored peace in Gilgit-Baltistan and Karachi.

According to Radio Pakistan, the prime minister said that construction work on Diamer Basha Dam will soon be started to meet the growing energy needs of the country.

He said the federal government has approved one hundred and five billion rupees for the acquisition of land for the dam.

Nawaz Sharif said work on Dasu will also be started very soon. He said that a hydel project will also be installed at Attabad lake which will help produce 27 megawatt of electricity.

The oath taking ceremony was attended by Governor Gilgit Baltistan Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Barjees Tahir and others.
