CPEC would have far-reaching impact, says Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would have far-reaching impact on the country, ARY News reports.

He was addressing a conference on CPEC organized by Pakistan Society of Development in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Aziz said that CPEC is highly beneficial for Pakistan and the region. He added that the Chinese leadership has been supporting regional networking from day one.

He also said that the project will change the regional and global politics. He further said that China is also working on a substitute institution along with CPEC.

The PM’s adviser stated that China will assist in energy production from Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and thermal sources. He added that 17,000 megawatt of electricity will be generated from these projects and its costs will be low.

“The doors of development will open from Gwadar Port. Every province has been told to form a trade zone regarding CPEC,” he added.

Aziz said, “It is a great opportunity for our investors to yield benefits from it.”

CPEC will be a source of income for millions of people in the country, he further said.

PM’s adviser called the relevant institutions of the country to be active in order to prepare skilled labour. “We should not solely depend on the Chinese to come and work here,” he added.
