ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court has ordered registration of FIR against former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) station chief for his involvement in drone attacks in Pakistan, resulting deaths of family members of a citizen in 2009, ARY News reported Thursday.
The court ordered filing of case on a petition of victim’s heir. Petitioner’s family members werekilled in a drone strike on December 31, 2009 in Mir Ali, area of Waziristan.
The petitioner and anti-drone activist Karim Khan held former CIA station chief Jonathan Banks responsible for the killings of his 18-year-old son Zaheenullah and brother Asif Iqbal in a drone attack in Waziristan in December 2009.
The case was heard by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC. The station house officer (SHO) of Secretariat Police Station also appeared in court during the hearing.
Justice Siddiqui asked, “Doesn’t it fall in a crime”. The SHO replied in affirmative and said its report will be produced in the court.
The court ordered him to register FIR, instead of producing the report.
