ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Ramazan relief package for consumers, ARY News reported.
A meeting of the ECC chaired by Finance Minister Asad Umar discussed a twelve-point agenda including a review of the new postage rates,
The cabinet committee examined a proposal of the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production for Ramazan relief package to consumers and approved it to extend relief to the general public during the upcoming holy month.
The package to the tune of Rs. two billion, will provide four to 50 rupees relief to the consumers at utility stores during the month of Ramazan.
The cabinet committee in previous meeting had approved Rs768.8 million supplementary grant to the Ministry of Interior.
The grant will be utilised for different projects initiated by the ministry including betterment of security arrangements of the federal capital and e-passport.
The ministry had forwarded recommendations to provide funds for maintenance of surveillance cameras and purchases of security vehicles for the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Preparations for construction of an additional terminal of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) at Port Qasim was also reviewed in the meeting.
Asad Umar issued directives for initiation of construction work of additional LNG terminal before the commencement of winter season.
