YANGON: An ARY News team which reached Myanmar after ‘Sar-e-Aam’ host Iqrar-ul-Hasan led mission to help Rohingyas and document the genocide has been deported from the country, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The team led by ‘Sar-e-Aam’ producer Kamran Umar was not only deported but detained for about eight hours by Myanmar authorities despite the fact that they had visa and all the relevant documents to stay in the country.

“As soon as I reached the airport, the authorities took me into custody, took away all my belongings and shifted me to a detention center, we were not even provided food and water,” said Kamran Umar.

On the other hand, Iqrar-ul-Hasan has reached near the troubled Rakhine state. In a message posted on his Twitter profile, Iqrar urged all his fans and fellow Pakistanis to pray for him and the Rohingya Muslims.

Iqrar-ul-Hassan Syed reached Myanmar on September 7 in order to help the persecuted Rohingya community and document the genocide committed by the country’s military.

Since the news of the military operation in Myanmar’s Rakhine state which houses the Rohingyas reached Pakistani media, people are eager to know what is going on in the state and the “state-less minority” and why none is helping them so the ‘Sar-e-Aam’ host took it upon himself to reach the place and get first hand information and details.

The UN, till September8, said that at least 270,000 Rohingya have arrived in Bangladesh after fleeing Myanmar, where refugees say their villages have been burned to the ground and relatives killed by the army.
