ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday released written order for suspension of order regarding removal of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Akhtar Hussain, ARY News reported.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb has released the written order which temporarily suspended the notice regarding removal of the drug regulatory chief.
The notice relating to removal of DRAP CEO Hussain will be suspended till the next hearing fixed on March 15, the IHC’s order stated.
Ministry of National Health Services, Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) will produce records in the next hearing.
Notices have been released to parties to appear in initial hearing of the case.

On March 11, the IHC had suspended a notification with regard to removal of DRAP Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Akhtar Hussain.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan directed the petitioner to resume his duty and issued notices to the official respondents, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of National Health Services, DRAP, the Establishment Division and others to submit their replies to the petition.
Sheikh Akhtar Hussain had been appointed on the key post the drug regulatory authority on December 27 last year.
On March 8, the Ministry of National Health Services had removed the chief drug regulator Sheikh Akhtar Hussain from his services over alleged fake PhD degree in pharmacy who he had received from the Open International University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2000 and not included in the HEC’s list of international chartered varsities.
