KARACHI: Widespread rain with thunderstorm and dust storm is expected in parts of the country today.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain with dust storm or thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at isolated places in Balochistan, Punjab, Islamabad, Quetta, Zhob divisions, and Kashmir
Similar weather conditions are likely at isolated places in Sukkur, Larkana divisions and Gilgit Baltistan. Whereas, hailstorm is also expected at isolated places during the period with few moderate to isolated heavy falls expected in Kohat, Bannu and D.I.Khan divisions.
It is pertinent to mention here that widespread rainfall with thunderstorm across the country and a dust storm in Karachi killed at least 25 people and scores of others injured.

On Sunday night, a fierce dust-storm accompanied by strong winds lashed Karachi, bringing down trees and power poles in different areas of the metropolis.
K-Electric’s high-tension power transmission line tripped, suspending electricity supply to the linked grid stations. As a result, many areas, including North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Sarjani Town, and Nusrat Bhutto Colony, plunged into darkness.
Shah Faisal Colony, Azizabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and other areas also faced power blackout after the strong winds began sweeping across the city.
