‘Fake traffic warden’ nabbed in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Police on Saturday said to have nabbed a man pretending to be a traffic warden to mint money by penalizing citizens over traffic violations.

As per details, the city traffic police took into custody the alleged impostor, Shehzad, from the Sheikhupura Mor. He had been robbing citizens for 10 years.

Fake identity as well as service cards and a sum of money the suspect had made by fining citizens were recovered from his possession, according to the traffic police.

A traffic police official said Shehzad, who hailed from Gujranwala, used to trick people by posing as traffic warden. He had got printed fake slips which he used to penalize citizens over traffic violations.

Earlier, police had arrested three people who, impersonating as policemen, would stop people for checking only to snatch their valuables at gunpoint.

They had confessed to impersonating cops to stop people for checking to loot them at gunpoint. Police recovered a stolen vehicle, Rs100,000 snatched cash, mobile phones and a 30 bore pistol from them.
