Speaking to media at the Sindh Assembly, MQM leader Khwaja Izharul Hasan voiced concern over ‘mysterious death’ of Aftab Ahmed in detention and demanded immediate investigation into the matter.
The MQM leader also demanded formation of a medical board to probe the death reason.

Meanwhile, MQM’s Wasay Jalil also tweeted about death of their activist, saying he died during ‘Ranger’s custody’.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for Pakistan Rangers Sindh said in a statement that Ahmed early on Tuesday morning complained of chest pain, after which he was immediately shifted to hospital.
The suspect died of heart failure at the hospital, it read.
Ahmed was detained by law enforcers during a raid near MQM headquarters Nine Zero on Sunday evening. He was presented before a judge of the anti-terrorism court yesterday along with seven other suspects.
Rangers had informed the ATC judge about 90-day detention of seven suspects, including Aftab Ahmed, for interrogation.
Scores of workers and leaders from the MQM offered funeral prayers of Aftab Ahmed at Numaish roundabout of the city in the evening on Tuesday.
