Fawad terms advocacy of PIA’s fake degree pilots against parliament’s dignity

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday termed the advocacy of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pilots, dismissed on fake degrees, against parliament’s dignity.

Reacting to a Senate committee’s criticism of dismissal of fake degree holder employees of the PIA, including seven pilots, he said on Twitter, “Such kind of attitude has caused downfall to nation during the last decade.”

Yesterday, a meeting of the parliamentary body of Senate, chaired by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Mushahidullah Khan censured the manner in which the PIA management had fired seven pilots and 73 cabin crew for possessing fake degrees, saying rules were not followed for dismissal of services.

It is pertinent to mention here, the information minister and Senator Mushahidullah have been exchanging barbs for months, over the appointments made in the national flag carrier.

Earlier in the month of October, last year, Fawad said, “People like Mushahidullah appoint people on political basis in state-run organisations” which results in huge losses.

The minister slammed Mushahidullah for what he termed “recruiting whole family” the in Pakistan International Airlines.

Infuriated, Mushahidullah too responded sharply which turned the exchange into a shouting match which ended after Senate Chairman’s intervention.
