LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman reached Jati Umra residence of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday morning, ARY News reported.
In meeting at the breakfast Maulana Fazlur Rehman inquired about the health of Nawaz Sharif, who informed the JUI-F leader about the state of his health and ongoing medical treatment, sources said.
According to sources, the two leaders also discussed current political situation, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases and government’s attitude towards the opposition.
The duo also talked about a possible political movement against the government, sources further said.
The decision of this meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman was made after a telephonic conversation, sources said.
Moreover, Fazlur will also exchange views about his recent meeting with the former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
The former premier Nawaz Sharif, who is currently on limited bail on medical grounds, had arrived at his Jati Umra residence on Sunday, where he met the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and his son Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz during a weekly lunch and get together.
On March 21, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat-e-Ulema (Fazl) had met former president Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad and discussed matters of mutual interest.
Both the leaders expressed ‘dissatisfaction’ over the performance of the government.
The Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz commenting on the meeting between Fazl ur Rehman and Nawaz Sharif termed it a ‘good omen’.
He said the price hike has broken backbone of the poor in the country, while the prime minister has been busy in acts of victimization against political rivals. “We will not be intimidated with such acts,” Hamza said.
The people now remembering the government of PML-N, he added.
