Rescue sources said that the blaze broke out at the PIA office at Rawalpindi’s Mall Road, which rapidly spread to the entire building.
Rescue 1122 fire fighting teams arrived at the scene of the blaze after being informed of the blaze. The fire fighters extinguished the fire after hours of struggle.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established, while the extent of the damage has not yet been determined.
The civic bodies in most of Pakistani cities have insufficient fire fighting equipment and scarcity of personnel. Moreover, narrow lanes in market areas make the blaze incidents more dangerous causing hurdles for the fire tenders to access the fire spot thus resulting in huge losses.
