PESHAWAR: At least three Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel have been martyred and nine other people including two security personnel injured in a suicide blast in Hayatabad area of the city on Monday morning, ARY News reported.
The explosion occurred near the Bagh-e-Naran Chowk in Hayatabad.
According to Peshawar Cantonment SP Imran Malik, the suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle when he targeted the FC vehicle after ramming his motorcycle into paramilitary convoy and blowing himself up. The FC personnel were travelling from their camp in Hayatabad to the headquarters in Qila Bala Hisar when one of their vehicle was targeted, he said.
SSP (operations) Sajjad Khan said 10-12 kilograms of explosives were used by the bomber, who was riding a Honda CG125 bike.
Three FC men including a major were martyred in the explosion.
The blast also damaged two other vehicles that were part of the convoy. Security personnel cordoned off the area after the explosion as rescue services shifted the injured to Hayatabad Medical Complex.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the blast as yet.

The attack comes a day after when Pakistan Army has launched an operation called Khyber-4 in Rajgal Valley area of Khyber Agency, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor announced on Sunday.
ISPR DG said the operation has been launched to wipe out terrorists and consolidate gains made in other military operations to further enhance the security of Pakistan’s borders.
He said that the operation aims to secure the international border with Afghanistan by preventing Daesh and other local militants on Afghan side of the border from infiltration.
