QUETTA: Four terrorists, including a woman, were killed while six security personnel sustained injuries in a fierce shootout between them at Teramal locality of Dasht on the outskirts of Quetta on Wednesday morning, ARY News reported.
A child was also killed while a woman suffered injuries when one of the militants blew himself up at the scene of the gun battle during the encounter.
A spokesman of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said that the security personnel acting on a tip-off raided a hideout of terrorists in Teramal locality this morning.
On seeing the security forces, militants hiding inside the house opened fire at them. They put up strong resistance, firing rocket-propelled grenades and throwing hand grenades.
Sensing the gravity of the situation, more contingents of security personnel were called in.
After over six-hour-long shootout, three terrorists were killed while another blew himself up, killing a child and wounding a woman, who were living in a nearby house.
The victims were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta where the injured woman is said to be in critical condition.
The CTD official said that the terrorists were involved in acts of targeted killings of the security personnel.
Arms and ammunition were also recovered from them.
