KARACHI: Police on Tuesday formed a team to arrest suspects allegedly involved in the rape of a girl during a robbery at a house in Karachi’s Surjani Town area, ARY NEWS reported.
The investigation team comprised SSP West Suhai Aziz, SP Orangi and DSP Surjani who would be responsible for tracing the suspects allegedly involved in the horrific act.
The police said that the investigation team has approached the family who claimed that the suspects took away Rs24,000 and a mobile phone during the robbery bid. “One of the suspects allegedly raped a girl while leaving after the robbery,” they said.
Sharing updates on the investigation, the police said that they have completed the geo-fencing of the area besides also gathering CCTV footage and other pieces of evidence from the crime scene and its nearby areas.
The police said that
a similar incident of rape during a robbery bid was reported from Surjani last year and the police were able to apprehend the suspects behind it. “We are investigating the fresh case also and will apprehend the suspects soon,” they said.Yesterday, it was reported that a girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at gunpoint by three persons during a robbery in Karachi’s Surjani Town.
According to police, the incident was reported on Sunday night in Sujrani Town Sector 7-A, where three robbers broke into the house and made the family members hostage at gunpoint.
The robbers after looting valuables held the girl at gunpoint and gang-raped her. The muggers fled the scene safely, the police said.
Meanwhile, the medical of the alleged rape victim cannot be carried out due to the absence of a lady medical-legal office (MLO) at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
