Gutka, Mainpuri makers to face police raids in Sindh

KARACHI: The Gutka, Mainpuri makers to face police raids across Sindh as the IG Ghulam Nabi Memon has constituted a task force to curb the use and sale of the  narcotics in the province, ARY News reported on Thursday.

As per details, the provincial task force can now take strict against the officers from SHO to District SSP after a raid by the task force. 

The IG Sindh took notice of the sale and use of Gutka and Manpuri in the province and the AIG operations Dr Farrukh Raza issued an order regarding this.

The task force comprised Additional IGP Investigation, Additional IGP Operations, and Additional IGP Special Branch.

They can conduct operations in any part of the province of Sindh and will have jurisdiction throughout Sindh. The task force has the authority to seek logistics and human resources from any unit of Sindh Police, including RRF and SSU for conducting raids and operational duties.

In Karachi, DIG CIA Karachi will constitute a team of reputed officers to visit the hospitals where victims suffering due to using Gutka, Mava, Manpuri and other narcotic substances are under treatment. The team will seek their statements and proceed as per law.

The newly constituted task force will also act on its own information and intelligence reports received through the Additional IGP Special Branch regarding ‘organised’ activity related to the Preparation, Manufacturing, Storage, Sale, and Use of Gutka, Manpuri and other Narcotics.

Furthermore, the task force will formulate its recommendations to curb the menaceand keep IGP informed of its progress.
