Govt undertook development projects benefited PML-N lawmakers: IK

CHITRAL: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said on Wednesday that the countrywide prevalent civic issues are consequent of the government’s wrong policies.

Addressing a public rally at Polo Ground in Chitral, the PTI chief said the rulers have been failed to overcome the issues faced by the masses for undertaking the projects benefiting them rather than the public.

“Coal power plants are [being] shut down around the world; Pakistan is only [a] country to launch these plants,” Khan lamented.

He said the smog has dreadfully affected the major plains of the country due to immense pollution. “Such power plants would definitely add on the pollution, leaving an adverse impact on the environment,” the PTI chief added.

The northern parts of the country have numerous reservoirs; an ideal place for hydroelectric power plants but these areas were ignored under a malicious design, Khan underlined.

He said if his

party swept to power, he would impose four emergencies; particularly in Education and Environment departments. He said the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has improved the education system. “We have ensured teachers’ attendance in the schools across the province after taking effective measures,” he added.

Khan said the living conditions could only be improved if a local government bodies function properly.

He said around 200 billion trees were cut down during the tenure of Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), causing environmental issues in the province.

He said incumbent Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had given Rs94 billion to the MNAs of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). “The prime job of MNAs and MPAs is lawmaking not being indulged in development projects. However, they were issued development funds, noted Khan.

Moreover, he said that his party would take all possible measures to eradicate corruption from the country.
