Imran questions ‘special protocol’ to Maryam Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the nation must decide once and for all whether they want a democratic society or a monarchy, implying rulers as monarchs.

His tweet has appeared at a time when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz has appeared before the Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for a grilling session.

Expressing outrage at Maryam’s exaggerated protocol, Khan said its inexplicable that an ordinary citizen is getting official protocol with police saluting her.

Bringing forward his concern, he queried the motive behind the special arrangements on Maryam’s appearance before the JIT. “Why [a] private citizen Maryam [is] getting official protocol with police saluting as she goes to appear before [the] criminal investigation?” Khan expressed his concern in a tweet.
