ABBOTABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Sunday said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could not stop corruption because he himself was a king of corruption, ARY News reported.
“I will not spare the PM, come what may. The root cause of all the problems is corruption. Corruption is the cause of unemployment, low income, less investment and suffering of people,” he said while addressing a public rally in Abbotabad, Hazara District.
He said the prime minister was caught red-handed but he shamelessly refused to budge. He said Nawaz was very experienced in looting money. He has used the flimsy Qatari letter as an excuse in the case of offshore assets, he added.
Imran resented that the PM was exposed in Panamagate case for involvement in money laundering. He said according to a report of the United States Rs1,000 billion was being laundered annually from the country.
“The result of this money laundering is a depletion of the dollar and the self-respect of a person or country. It results in enslaving of a nation. The disrespect of Pakistanis,” he said.
The PTI chief said: “Nawaz Sharif said something that stunned me. He said that if I go after corruption, development will stop. Can you imagine that?”
He said the nation will not progress until corruption was uprooted.
