The law enforcers also seized a large number of compact discs and banner that were to be distributed for publicity.
The arrested suspects were identified as Jawad Ahmad aka Abu Hafs, Amir Sohail, Ijaz Ahmad, Adnan Babar aka Danu Kabarria, Saeed Ahmad aka Abuzar, Yasir Ali, Hamza Imtiaz, and Waqas Ahmad.
Police say that those arrested in the raid had taken an oath to “overthrow democracy and introduce Khilafat in Pakistan through armed struggle”. The law enforcement agencies said the IS operatives had established all necessary infrastructure in Sialkot to run their operations across the country.
Further interrogation of suspects revealed that the suspects were trying to enhance their network to other parts of Punjab through recruitment.
Originally the suspects belonged to Jamaatud Dawa, but later joined the IS. The investigators revealed that arrested members of the IS had been social media and Skype to communicate with each other to avoid arrests.
