JI chief urges SC to take suo moto notice of Ahmedpur inferno

MULTAN: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq on Saturday urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of Ahmedpur Sharqia fire incident, ARY News reported.

Condoling with the affected families of the tragic incident, Siraj held the government responsible for the high death toll in the incident, claiming over 190 lives.

He expressed grief over the tragedy and said that the rulers have failed to bring reforms despite making hefty claims. “Government should announce relief package for the victims and their families on immediate basis,” the JI emir demanded while talking to media.

During his visit, Siraj also heard the grievances of the local people.

It is pertinent here to mention that more than 190 people have died so far as a result of an oil tanker explosion in Ahmedpur Sharqia in Punjab just a day before Eid when people were scooping up spilled fuel from the overturned oil tanker.
