JI’s Naeem dismisses MQM NA-246 mandate

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Naeem-ur-Rehman said that he will only congratulate MQM over the win when all the requirements of fair and transparent elections will be met.

He maintained that he will accept MQM’s mandate when the ‘forged’ voter lists will be corrected and MQM will stop making fake identity cards, collecting identity cards before election and end the culture of violence.

Naeem claimed that the polling staff consisted of MQM activists working in government departments like KPT, NBP and Water Board.

Answering a question about identity cards, he alleged that MQM has created fake NICs which contain picture, address of a different person and thumb impression of another person.

“This is what you call a fake identity card and that is why we demanded biometric system as such forgery can be caught with the system”, said the JI leader.

When asked about the failure to enter into an alliance with PTI against MQM, Naeem opined that his party asked PTI to withdraw in their favour as PTI had limited polling agents and a single camp within the constituency.

“PTI voters could not have cast their votes in the absence of our polling agents”, said Naeem.

The NA-246 constituency of Karachi witnessed a by-poll on Thursday as the seat fell vacant after Nabil Gabol who was elected on the ticket of MQM in the 2013 general elections resigned from his seat after developing differences with the party.

MQM candidate emerged victorious in the election which saw a number of candidates participating with the most notable contestants being PTI’s Imran Ismail and JI’s Rashid Nasim.
