JUI-F leader shot dead in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN : A  Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F)  leader and cleric, Maulana Ataullah Shah was shot dead in DI Khan on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.

Police said unidentified armed man opened fire on Maulana Attaullah Shah near New Bannu Chungi, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to bullet wounds before he was being shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

The assailants managed to flee from the crime scene. No one has yet claimed the responsibility for the attack, police officials said.

Following the incident, a contingent of police reached the scene and started investigation after collecting evidences from the spot.

This is the second attack on a JUI-F leader in less than a month as earlier on July 27, JUI-F leader Maulana Haq Nawaz Haqqani, administrator of Jamia Muhammadia in the Matta Mughalkhel area, was shot dead in Charsadda district.

On May 12, 2017, at least 28 people were killed and over 40 others injured in an explosion in Balochistan’s Mastung district.

The bomb went off near the convoy of JUI-F leader and Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haideri as he left a local seminary.
