KARACHI: An alleged target-killer has been arrested during a raid conducted by Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Police at Khuda Ki Basti locality near Karachi’s Gadap Town, ARY News reported.
The suspect has been identified as Mazhar Abbas who has allegedly been involved in various heinous crimes including extortion and bank robbery.
Police officials also claimed to seize a hand-grenade and a rifle from his possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tariq Dharejo has claimed that the suspect was also involved in Rs three million bank robbery in 2010 in Clifton area of the metropolis.
The suspect has also been accused of killing an Awami National Party (ANP) worker, besides a security guard during a bank robbery.
The SSP further said that the suspect is resident of Parachinar city of Kurram Agency in Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA).
In a separate raid, Sindh Rangers arrested an alleged terror suspect affiliated with Lashkar-e-Balochistan, a banned militant organization, during an overnight raid in the city.
The suspected terrorist has been identified as Maheem Khan, son of Sher Khan, who has been associated with the banned outfit since 2012, the paramilitary sources said.
According to paramilitary spokesperson, Khan has been wanted in many cases of terrorism.
He was involved in the attack on a vehicle of irrigation department near Hub in 2014. Moreover, he was also one of the planners of a bomb blast near a cement factory in Hub, said the spokesperson.
