KARACHI: Paramilitary Rangers and Police on Tuesday launched a joint operation at the mobile market near Sakhi Hassan area of Karachi, ARY News reported.
Large contingents of rangers and police have been deployed at the roads leading to the market.
Police officers including SHO Taimuriya police station were also present at the place.
According to sources, the joint operation being conducted on intelligence reports.
There were reports of sale of stolen and snatched mobile devices in the market, sources said.
It is the first instance that the law enforcement agencies have launched an operation in a mobile phones’ market in Karachi.
The Rangers, Police with the assistance of intelligence agencies, on the orders of the government, launched a law enforcement operation in Karachi in September 2013, to curb rampant crimes in the port city.
The law enforcement agencies launched a crackdown against incidents of terrorism, targeted killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and other crimes in Karachi.
The Karachi operation gave tangible results creating a semblance of peace in the chaotic city.
