KPO attack: DIG South says AIG Karachi was target of terrorists

KARACHI: The Deputy Inspector General said that the Additional Inspector General (AIG) was target of the terrorists who attacked the Karachi police office, ARY News reported on Saturday. 

While talking to media the DIG south Irfan Baloch said that the terrorist knew the AIG office floor as well and they targeted his office.

He revealed that the terrorist had been doing the recce of this area for one month and these terrorist came to AIG office earlier too.

The terrorist came to KPO via Saddar in a vehicle and they carried out the attack upon completion of recce in the area.

Earlier, it was revealed that major lapses identified in the security arrangements at the KPO ­– the office of the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi – which came under attack on Friday evening.

It is pertinent to mention here that unidentified armed men attacked the police chief’s office in Karachi while explosions were also heard before the gunshots.

The attackers hurled hand grenades from the backyard of the police head office and later they entered the four-storey building from the same route.

Police said staffers are still present in the police chief’s office when the attackers carried out explosions and gunfire.
