Four robbers killed in ‘shootout’ in Lahore

LAHORE: Police on Saturday claimed to have killed four alleged robbers in a shootout in Harbanspura locality of the capital of Punjab province, ARY News reported.

Police said they received information about the four robbers mugging citizens at gunpoint near a graveyard in Harbanspura.

Acting swiftly, the law enforcement personnel reached the site and spotted them depriving citizens of their cash and other valuables, the police officials said and added on seeing the police, the robbers opened fire on them. In the resulting exchange of fire, all the four robbers were killed.

They said they have recovered four pistols from their possession and their bodies have been shifted to a morgue.

Earlier on July 27, Lahore police had claimed to have killed four robbers in an encounter in Shadman area of the city.

According to police, it received information that four robbers had broken into a house with intention to rob in Lahore’s posh area of Shadman.

They said the personnel of the police made several appeals to bandits, asking them to surrender before police, on which the robbers resorted to firing on them.

In the subsequent exchange of fire between the robbers and policemen, which lasted for two hours, all the robbers were killed.
