SIBI: A levies man was killed on Saturday morning in an armed attack on a check post in a neighbourhood of Sibi district in Balochistan province, ARY News reported.
Security officials said unknown assailants opened fire at the check post near Sibi’s Mill Chowk area and fled the scene. As a result, the personnel received serious bullet injuries and died on the spot, they added.
The dead body was transferred to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Subsequently, a contingent of security forces arrived at the spot and cordoned it off for security purposes. They also launched a search operation in the adjoining areas to look for culprits.
Earlier this week, at least seven policemen were martyred and 22 others injured in a ‘suspected’ car bombing on Sibi Road within the jurisdiction of Sariab Road police station of Balochistan’s capital city Quetta.
In another incident of violence in the capital city on Wednesday, a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) inspector was gunned down by unknown armed assailants on Qambrani Road. The deceased was identified as Abdul Salam.
