Earlier in the day, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill moved Lahore High Court (LHC) against Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), seeking the removal of his name from the exit control list (ECL).

Director-General (DG) FIA and Punjab Inspector-General of Police (IGP) have been made respondents in the petition.

Shahbaz Gill, in the petition, stated that the Ministry of Interior had put his name on the exit control list (ECL) on October 17, 2022. “The petitioner is not involved in any illegal activities”, it stated, terming the move to include his name on ECL ‘illegal’.

It pointed out that the Lahore High Court (LHC) had allowed the petitioner to travel abroad, but FIA and IG Punjab were not following the court’s orders.

He demanded action against the two respondents for not implementing the court’s orders and sought permission for travelling abroad.

It is pertinent to mention here that Shahbaz Gill was barred from flying from the Lahore airport to Saudi Arabia by the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA).
