New Delhi: Indian government has nominated Lt General Manjo Pandey as the country’s new Army Chief, he will succeed General Manoj MM Naravane.
He will take charge in the latter days of April.
Incumbent Army Cheif Naravane is due to retire from the force this month, resulting in Lt General Manoj Pandey taking charge as the 29th Army Chief of India.

According to Indian media Lt General Manoj Pandey belongs to the Engineering Core of the Indian Army. He will be the first-ever Army Chief from the engineering core of the Indian Army.
Pande became the seniormost after a few top officers retired over the past three months. The incumbent Lt Gen Raj Shukla, who was commanding Army’s training command retired on March 31. A few other senior leaders retired by the end of January. Lt Gen CP Mohanty and Lt Gen YK Joshi retired on January 31.
