ISLAMABAD: People in Pakistan will observe first Ramazan-ul-Mubarak on Sunday (tomorrow) as moon not sighted in the country on Friday night, while in some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkwa province Ramazan began today (Saturday).
Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan in Peshawar announced on Friday night that he had received evidence about the sighting of the Ramazan moon.
Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Commitee, Mufti Muneebur Rehman had made an announcement earlier after heading session of central committee in Islamabad. He said the sighting of the moon not reported in any part of the country.
The regional and zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees also held meetings in different parts of the country to assist the Central Committee to reach a decision.
FIRST RAMAZAN IN PARTS OF KP today
Citizens in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are observing first Ramazan on Saturday (today), after Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai after a meeting at Masjid Qasim Ali Khan contended that they have received 13 evidences including one from a woman of sighting the Ramazan crescent.The announcement by him was made shortly after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced in a meeting that the crescent was not sighted anywhere in the country on Friday.
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department had also predicted that there were slim chances of the moon sighting on Friday.
