Families of the arrested leaders, elected local government leaders, workers and other officials were also present in the protest in front of Karachi Press Club demanding release of their leaders.
They were arrested in former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain terror facilitation case after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected their interim bail on July 19.
MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said MQM would not withdraw Waseem Akhter’s nominationfor mayor.
The MQM leaders on this occasion MQM would be independent in its decisions if the leaders were not released. They said high courts were contacted for bail of the leaders.
Nominated deputy mayor of Karachi Arshad Wohra said they had trust in courts and both the leaders would soon be among them.
Daughters of Rauf Siddiqui and other family members also demanded the concerned authorities to release him.
The speakers warned that MQM would extend circle of protest if the party leaders were not released.
