CM Murad forms JIT to investigate Intizar murder case

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on request of Ishtiaq Ahmed, father of Intizar Ahmed who was killed in a fire incident on January 13, 2018, at Seaview, constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the murder case.

The CM directed Home Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez to constitute a joint investigation team (JIT) under Additional Inspector General Police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Sanaullah Abbasi and issue notification within an hour.

The home secretary vide notification No.(LE-I)HD/08-04/2018(JIT) constituted a six-member committee headed by the additional IG CTD. The other members are the DIG South, an Inter-Services Intelligence representative (not below the rank of Major), an representative of IG police (of equivalent rank of SP), a Pakistan Rangers representative (gazetted officer), a special branch representative (equivalent rank of SP) and a representative of Military Intelligence (not below than the rank of major).

The notification says the JIT shall investigate/interrogate the matter within 15 days and submit the report to the Home Department for necessary action.

On January 14, Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) personnel shot dead Intezar in Khayaban-e-Ittehad area of the city.

Two different versions of account emerged after the incident when police earlier claimed that the youth was killed  by unidentified armed assailants on motorcycle.

However, later it was disclosed that the personnel of law enforcement agencies opened fire upon his vehicle after he did not stop his car on their signal.

The slain youth was the only son to his father and recently came back from Malaysia.
