‘He deserves more insult’ says Musharraf about Iftikhar Chaudhry

KARACHI: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday expressed happiness over what happened with former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry and his son at the Jeddah airport, ARY News reported.

“He deserves more insult.. they (he and his son) are third class people, it was very unfortunate for Pakistan that this guy remained the country’s top judge,” said the former president.

 

Former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhary and his son, Arsalan Iftikhar, faced an awkward situation at Jeddah airport when the duo violated the queue, only to be strongly resisted by one of the passengers.

The former chief justice and his son were waiting for their flight at the Jeddah airport, but seemingly in ‘violation of the queue’. A visibly-raged passenger who was also standing, yelled at them to go back to the queue and follow the rule.

However, the ex-CJ’s son responded that he was told that business class passengers should come at the front of the queue. But the other man was too angry to be convinced.

“…don’t push in the queue…we all have been waiting…you have to go back,” the man told Arsalan Iftikhar couple of times.

At last, Arsalan walks away, preventing the bickering from getting worse.

‘NO DEAL’

About Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s recent claim that Musharraf’s team approached his party for an “under the table” deal when he and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto were in exile, Musharraf said that there was absolutely no deal or attempt to strike such a deal.

‘This is a blatant lie, why should I opt for a deal with them, they were nowhere then and PML-Q was the popular party at the time,” said Musharraf.

The former COAS also rejected the impression that he wanted a deal with PML-N to pave way for swift operation in case the party comes to power.

Addressing a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary leaders’ session. PM Nawaz claimed that the ex-military ruler sent an indirect message that he is interested in resolving issues with him and his party.

“Now Musharraf can’t come back to Pakistan, this is retribution,” he had added.
