Muslim girl questions Sonu Nigam over his Azaan tweet

MUMBAI: Bollywood Singer Sonu Nigam’s tweets have sought the attention of many as it has triggered a controversial debate on the use of loudspeakers at religious places for which he has also come under attack by various sections of the society.

Even Bollywood celebrities are divided on the issue and mixed reactions were seen on the social media with few supporting the singer while others opposing his tweets.

A Muslim girl named Yasmin Arora Munshi, a woman activist, has raised questions on his tweets.

“Why didn’t you tweet when innocent Muslims were murdered under the pretext of cow protection?” she asked Sonu Nigam.

She further said that Azaan (Islamic call to worship) on loudspeakers is not ‘Gundagardi’ (hooliganism) but killing innocent persons or gang rape of a woman by 10 to 15 men is definitely ‘Gundagardi’.

Assuming the singer must have crossed 50 years, she asked, “Why didn’t he get disturbed earlier and why did he raise this issue now when BJP Govt. assumed power in the Center.”

Moreover, she suggested Sonu Nigam should raise his voice to fight for justice and not to please someone.

Commenting on Akhlaq’s murder, she said killing Akhlaq was “Gundagardi”. She also raised the case of murder of Pehlu Khan and many such issues.

She also challenged Sonu Nigam to reply to her questions and over no response, she threatened to go to his house, she would go to his house along with the members of her organization to ask these questions.

Furthermore, she slammed another singer, Abhijeet.

It is pertinent to mention that Sonu Nigam earlier tweeted, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India?” This tweet created uproar in the country.
