ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) retired Justice Javed Iqbal has dismissed the impression of injustice in the arrest of former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Memon.
Memon was arrested by NAB authorities on Oct 23 after being denied bail in an advertisements scam accusing him and eleven other suspects of embezzling over Rs5 billion. He was subsequently remanded in jail till November 4.
However, NAB chairman dismissed criticism by Pakistan Peoples Party leaders claiming over injustice in Memon’s arrest, saying that across the board accountability will be conducted.
He resolved that the accountability process against Memon will be held as per the law of the land. He said that NAB does not discriminate, and Memon was arrested as warrants were issued by the accountability court.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah the incident Sharjeel was a big question mark over impartiality of the NAB. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto had said that the arrest shows there were two laws in land, one for Sharif and another for Sharjeel Memon.
On the other hand, a NAB spokesman denied that a team had visited London to investigate in the corruption references agains the family of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The spokesman was responding to statements by Maryam Nawaz that NAB had failed to find any evidence against the Sharif family. He said that NAB has not sent any investigating team to London and the findings of evidence was out of question.
