The NAB also directed the top officer to collect information about all illegal hydrants in the city. The KWSB will also issue clearance certificate to respective areas where illegal hydrants would cease to operate.

The report regarding action against hydrants would be sent to the NAB within seven days.

On March 3, the Sindh High Court had ordered action against a sessions’ judge for allowing an illegal hydrant to operate in a Malir neighbourhood.

Justice Salahuddin Panhwar of the high court had given the order while hearing a petition against the illegal hydrant. He observed that the judge went beyond his jurisdiction by passing such an order.

The Karachi and Water Sewerage Board (KWSB) had sealed the hydrant with help of the district administration for being illegal.
