ISLAMABAD: Soon after Pakistan informed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) about Indian aggression at the Line of Control (LoC), OIC’s General Secretariat issued a statement that “condemned the Indian incursion and aerial violation” and asked both the countries to move towards de-escalation of the current situation, ARY News reported Tuesday.

The OIC described it as an action “against an OIC founding member state”.

It also urged India and Pakistan “to exercise restraint and avoid any steps that would endanger peace and security in the region” and called upon both countries “to act responsibly”.

There had also been a separate statement issued by the emergency meeting of the OIC contact group on Kashmir that passed strictures on the human rights situation in the India-occupied Kashmir.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also telephoned the OIC Secretary General Dr Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen and expressed displeasure for inviting India in its emergency session on Kashmir.

Talking to OIC secretary general, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that violation of Line of Control by Indian Air Force was highly condemnable and added that India was involved in grave human rights violation in the held Kashmir. ‘In this scenario, the OIC should not have invited India in the session,’ said the foreign minister.

He had also urged the OIC secretary general to condemn the Indian intrusion against Pakistan.
