ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government decided launching military operation against militants to rid country of terrorism, ARY News reported Monday.
We have now decided to make Pakistan a peaceful land, said PM in his speech in the National Assembly today. He told that decisions were taken after consulting all stakeholders.
He said despite dialogues, the game of fire and blood carried on. Terrorism has inflicted damage of $103 billion dollar to Pakistan’s economy. “There might have been two opinions on operation until yesterday”, maintained the prime minister.
“Our earnest and sincere efforts for peace were not reciprocated,” said Sharif. He said the time had arrived to cleanse tribal areas of terrorism. We will not allow country to become terrorists’ den at any cost, he added.
He told that seminaries, airbases, markets, public places nothing are safe. The PM called upon ulemas to continue their role in peace restoration.
Terrorism and talks could not go together. People, media and civil society should stand behind Pakistan Army. He said our recreational places had been deprived of tourists.
