ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said underscored the unwavering consensus of Pakistan and China to work for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan, ARY News reported.
Taking to Twitter, the prime minister said that the 5th Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue held in Islamabad underscored the unwavering consensus of Pakistan and China to work for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan in the interest of Afghan people.
“Unlocking economic potential of the region remains contingent on restoration of regional peace and stability,” PM Shehbaz said.
He further said that investing in peace and stability through a collective and sustained focus will ensure win-win outcomes, including the success of initiatives aimed at greater regional connectivity and socio-economic progress.
A day earlier, Foreign Minister (FM) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasised the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan for the region’s ‘socioeconomic development and prosperity’ and vowed to work together with all stakeholders for a peaceful Afghanistan.
The foreign minister was addressing a joint presser with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang following the 4th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue.
Addressing a joint press conference with his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang in Islamabad, Bilawal said: “We will continue to work together with all stakeholders for a peaceful, stable, prosperous and united Afghanistan”.
He further stated that Pakistan and China support each other on “issues of core national interests” in both bilateral engagement with other countries and at multilateral forums.
FM Bilawal Bhutto said that Pakistan remains profoundly grateful to China for its generous and timely assistance as “we continue to grapple with the headwinds in the global economy”.
FM Bilawal said the partnership between the two countries has grown over the years and enjoys consensus across generations and political divide.
