Pakistan to attend Heart of Asia conference despite India’s negative attitude, says FO

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) spokesman Nafees Zakaria has said that Pakistan will attend the Heart of Asia conference in India despite the negative attitude of the neighboring country, ARY News reports.

Zakaria, speaking in his weekly press briefing on Friday, said that Pakistan will attend the conference in India for the sake of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He said that Adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will go to India on Sunday (tomorrow) for a few hours to represent Pakistan in the conference.

Zakaria said that every country has its own role to play for stabilizing Afghanistan.

The two-day Heart of Asia Conference kicks off in Indian city of Amritsar on today to discuss peace and economic development in the country.

The meeting of the senior officials of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process will be held today in which the text for the 6th Ministerial Conference will be discussed and finalized.

The technical aspects of the declaration of the Ministerial Conference will be covered in the meeting of the senior officials.
