Pakistan to continue supporting Saudi integrity

The meeting decided that Pakistan will continue supporting the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

The Pakistan’s Prime Minister will contact the friend countries for peaceful resolution of the conflict.

The meeting agreed that international community must play its role in resolving the Middle-East conflict springing up after Yemen situation.

Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar attended the meeting.

Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and senior officials were also present.

Last week, a top-level government meeting decided any threat to Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity would evoke a strong response from Pakistan.

Prime Minister had told the meeting that “Pakistan enjoys close and brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia and other GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries and attaches great importance to their security.”

The Gulf kingdom has begun air strikes against Shiite Huthi rebels and the Saudi ambassador in Washington said a coalition of 10 countries, including Pakistan, was being formed to protect the Yemeni government.

The rebels and their allies had been closing in on main southern city Aden, where President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi has been holed up since fleeing the rebel-controlled capital Sanaa last month.
